Richard Day has been around the sports block a time or two. As a writer for more than 30 years, Day has driven an 800-HP racecar, exchanged forehands with tennis historian Bud Collins, taken a limousine ride with former Oakland Raiders defensive end Ben Davidson and ridden an elevator with tennis hall of famer Jimmy Connors. Day helped build the World of Outlaws into the leader in sprint car racing and the fifth-largest auto racing series as the series’ Director of Public Relations for 18 years.
