About me:

Reasonably liberal with conservative streaks. Like a considerable number of my fellow citizens, I believe that COMPROMISE is essential to the future of our nation with a good dose of KINDNESS thrown in, and that FAIRNESS and ACCOUNTABILITY should be more important than reelection, political parties or financial contributors. Our system of government should not be a “bloodless war” but instead “building peace.”

  • “Pride and Prejudice” (Kiera Knightley version); “Twister” (guilty pleasure!); 'Gladiator“; old favorites “Petrified Forest” (Leslie Howard/Humphrey Bogart/Bette Davis version) and anything with Ronald Coleman; too busy recently to add anything new.

  • the Academy Award nominees for best picture; “Birth of a Nation” (is it really as awful as they say?); maybe I'll finally watch “Titanic.”

  • as a child, “Joy and Gypsy Joe” (publ.

  • books recommended by family and friends; whatever hits my fancy at the moment

  • “I'll be back.” “I see cows.”

  • freshly cooked veggies with a bit of salt; scallops fresh from the ocean that morning; a superb steak just off the grill, ESPECIALLY if it's venison!

  • beautiful White Mountain view; warm, sandy Caribbean beach; anywhere I am when the love of my life is with me.

  • all of my relatives around the country, and, esp. Bob's Aunt Stella; the Caribbean with my darling

  • just trying to be good to each other and to the world
