Yahoo screwed the pooch on more than the commenting. They could have had Facebook like profiles back in the late 1990s. The yahoo profiles used to have group links, photo links, subject links and a avatar picture. The Yahoo wisdom then was to LIMIT information put on a Yahoo profile from the original profile set up by taking away some of the link posting available.

Then yahoo bought Flickr and forced profile photos over to there. After the profiles were neutered yahoo tried to play MySpace catch up with the later aborted Yahoo 360. Even recently they had some Yahoo Pulse profile deal but that doesn't seem to work. They killed the killer application by trying to control it.
